Bharathiar University is a postgraduate university in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, South India. Named after Tamil poet Subramania Bharathiar, the university was established in February 1982 and was recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1985. The university is situated in the foothills of Marudamalai road, Coimbatore and has jurisdiction over the districts of Coimbatore, Erode and the Nilgiris. It has 104 affiliated institutions (80 arts and science colleges, 29 colleges of education, eight management institutions, one Air Force administration college and one college of physical education).

Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) to work in the DST-SERB research project “Development of protocols for genetic transformation of the legume Macrotyloma uniflorum (Lam.) Verdc. and cryopreservation of its somatic embryos.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for two years (SRF) one year
No. of Vacancies : 01 Post
Fellowship : Rs 16,000/- per month and HRA & MA are applicable as per university norms
Qualifications : M.Sc., with 60% marks in Botany/Molecular Biology/Biotechnology
Experience : One year or more in Molecular Biology techniques preferably in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation of legumes are desirable
Project duration : Three years
