National Institute of Technology Calicut (Hindi: राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान कालिकट) or NITC is a federally funded technical university established by an act of the Indian Parliament, located at Kettangal in Chathamangalam which is situated about 22 km north-east of Kozhikode (Calicut) City in Kerala, India. It was formerly known as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC). NITC is one of the twenty National Institutes of Technology - one in each major state of India - established by the Government of India for fostering national integration by imparting technical education to students from all over the country. Mizoram University was established on July 2, 2001, by the Mizoram University Act, 2000 of the Parliament of India. The University is the fruit of the Mizoram Accord between Mizo National Front and Government of India on 30 June 1986, which states that: It is open to the State to move the establishment of the separate University in the State in accordance with the prescribed procedure. Initially, the University had 7 academic departments inherited from NEHU, but now has a total of 18 academic departments and hopes to bring the number to a total of 27 departments within the current Xth  Plan.
